41b Slang
Like jargon, slang is the specialized
vocabulary of any cultural or linguistic subgroup which by definition will
be unfamiliar to the general reader. Slang also tends to lack a seriousness
in tone, which might undermine your argument. And as with jargon, you should
use the language of the general reader.
Slang: Chilling with the Phaiakians, Odysseus blew away his hosts with his studly athleticism.
Revised sample: Recuperating with the Phaiakians, Odysseus impressed his hosts with his athletic prowess.
